Katy Perry es la gran favorita de los MTV Europe Music Awards, al encabezar la lista de nominados con siete candidaturas, incluidas Mejor Canción (por 'Dark Horse'), Mejor intérprete pop, Mejor intérprete femenina y Mejor intérprete de Estados Unidos.
Quien la sigue de cerca es Ariana Grande, con sus seis nominaciones, mientras que Pharrell Williams y la boy band 5 Seconds of Summer llegaron al tercer peldaño con cinco candidaturas.
Mientras tanto, One Direction, Nicki Minaj, Iggy Azalea, Eminem, Sam Smith y Kiesza están empatados con cuatro nominaciones cada uno.
En la categoría de Mejor Canción, Perry compite con Ariana Grande ('Problem'), Eminem ('The Monster'), Pharrell ('Happy') y Sam Smith ('Saty With Me'). En cuanto a la terna de Mejor intérprete de EU, también figuran Beyoncé, Eminem, Fifth Harmony y Pharrell Williams.
La californiana también se enfrentará a Taylor Swift en las categorías de Mejor intérprete femenina y Mejor look.
Entre las batallas que igualmente causarán polémica en la próxima premiación, destacan la que protagonizarán Nicki Minaj e Iggy Azalea, que compiten por Mejor Hip hop y Mejor look. Las boy bands One Direction y 5 Seconds of Summer lucharán por Mejor Pop y Mejores fans.
Las votaciones permanecerán abiertas en mtvema.com hasta el próximo 8 de noviembre. La ceremonia se transmitirá al día siguiente desde el SSE Hydro en Glasglow, Escocia.
